I have been steadily teaching different modalities of fitness since 2006. I was never an intentionally active person until I joined the Army, and that is where I discovered a love for fitness. I got my first taste as a trainer in the Army and wanted to be a instructor ever since.
I began teaching step aerobics in 2006 after my son was born and then became certified to teach additional classes. I have gotten certifications as a Group Fitness Instructor, Physio Ball Fitness trainer, Strength Consultant, PiYo, Group Power, Group Step, Group Kick, and have certified with Dragon Door as an HKC Russian Kettlebell Instructor.
I also blended my passion for healing, psychology and nutrition and became certified as a Psychological Dynamic Eating Coach through IPE in Colorado. In addition, I have studied energy arts and am a licensed minister from the Church of Light in Colorado.
Currently, I try to get some studying done to become a Personal Trainer but am kept pretty busy with my full time big-girl software job, two kids, and running BodyZen. I was born in Wisconsin, lived in Sierra Vista for nearly 14 years and have been loving living in Tucson since 2012. Contact Me at Catherine.Hinners@BodyZenFitness.com
My love for being active started at a young age, where I joined every team sport my school offered. It taught me self-discipline, teamwork, and how to meet the physical, emotional and social challenges of growing up. These qualities carried over into college and the military, my career and so many other aspects of life. As an adult, I wanted to share my enthusiasm of health with others striving for well-being, fitness and longevity.
The best part of being a personal trainer is witnessing positive changes in my clients. Whether it is weight loss, strength gains, injury rehabilitation, improvements in speed, agility or flexibility, I am proud to be a part of their journey. I have had the pleasure of working with people of all ages and abilities towards their fitness goals.
I believe the foundation of a successful relationship between trainer and client is communication and accountability. My client-centered approach towards the client paves the way for safe and effective exercise programming and instruction, while taking into account his/her individual goals, limitations, and adaptations. Working with the BodyZen Fitness family allows me to coach in an environment that provides social motivation along with delivering the balance of strength, cardio and flexibility in the workouts. It also gives me the opportunity to incorporate different fun and effective training modalities, like battleropes, kettlebells, and bands to our routine. No two workouts are ever the same!
